Red Drum—Tampa Bay

Anglers can help by reporting information on any red drum captured in Tampa Bay. Some of the hatchery red drum have both external streamer tags and acoustic transmitters.
OBSERVE CURRENT FISHING REGULATIONS IF YOU CATCH A RED DRUM WITH A TAG
  • Record tag number, capture location, capture date and time, total length, angler name/address/telephone number.
  • If you keep your catch we need the head and tag(s). Place the head and tag in a plastic bag and keep on ice or freeze it.
  • If you release your catch, do not remove the external tag; repeat captures are common.
  • Report capture information to the Angler Tag Return Hotline
    1-800-367-4461 or tagreturn@MyFWC.com.
  • Take the capture information and head to one of the participating bait shops listed below.
